Common questions

Straight answers, including the awkward ones.

These are the questions I actually get asked, answered the way I'd answer them on the phone. If yours isn't here, just ask.

Cost

Launch packages currently start at £140 for a one-page site, £210 for a three-page business site and £315 for up to five pages. Larger websites, online shops and custom systems are quoted individually. If a package does not fit what you need, tell me what you are after and I will price it properly rather than squeezing you into the wrong one.

Two reasons. There is no office, no sales team and no account manager between you and the person building the site, so there is far less overhead to cover. And I use a modern development process, including AI as a tool, which means the work that used to take weeks takes days. You are paying for the finished website, not for someone's meeting room.

Yes. These are launch prices while I build up the portfolio and collect reviews. They will go up as demand does. Whatever you pay at the start is the price for that project. It does not change partway through.

50% upfront to start the work and 50% before the site goes live. No subscription, no lock-in, no charge for the site itself after launch. If you want ongoing support afterwards, care plans start at £19.99 a month and you can stop them whenever you like.

No. The two things that sit outside the package are domain registration, which is roughly £10 to £30 a year paid to the registrar, and licensed stock photography if your business needs it, which I would agree with you first. Everything else in your quote is the price.

Timing

Most straightforward small business websites can be designed, built and prepared for launch in around 5 to 7 working days once I have the information I need from you. A single-page site is often quicker. The honest answer is that the timeline usually depends on how fast content and photos come back to me, not on the build itself.

Less than you might think. Your business name and services, any logo and photos you have, your contact details, and links to your existing website or social pages if you have them. If you have a Facebook page or Google Business Profile with information on it, that is often enough to get going.

Your package includes up to two rounds of reasonable revisions before launch. That covers the normal back-and-forth: wording, colours, layout tweaks, swapping photos. Adding new pages or changing direction entirely is quoted separately, which keeps the low prices workable for both of us.

Content

No, and most people cannot. Send me the basics about your business, your services, your existing social pages and any photos, and I will structure and draft the copy for the site. You review it and tell me what to change. You are not going to be left staring at a blank document trying to write an About page.

Yes. Send whatever you have and I will work with it. If your photos need cropping, resizing or optimising for the web, I handle that. If you do not have a logo, I can advise on what would work or point you in the right direction.

For trades and portfolio businesses, real photos of your own work sell far better than stock imagery, so I will usually tell you which shots to go and take, and it is normally twenty minutes on a phone. Where genuine photography is not possible, appropriate licensed images can be used instead. I would never present a stock or AI image as an example of your finished work.

Practical

Yes, that is one of the most common jobs I take on. Keeping your existing domain is straightforward and I will make sure your current pages still work so you do not lose any search rankings you have built up.

Yes. If you do not have one I will help you choose and register it. Domain registration is usually around £10 to £30 a year depending on the extension. You register it in your own name so you own it outright. I will just handle the technical setup.

Hosting setup is included and, for the small business sites I build, hosting costs are usually minimal or nil because of how the sites are built. I will be straight with you about any ongoing costs before you commit to anything.

Yes. Once it is paid for, it is yours. The domain is in your name and you are not tied to me. If you ever want to move to someone else, you can. I would rather keep clients because they want to stay.

Yes. Care plans start at £19.99 a month and cover hosting, up to three small changes a month, monitoring, backups and minor fixes. If you would rather not commit to anything monthly, you can just message me when you need something and I will quote it.

Bigger work

Yes. Alongside websites I build online shops, booking systems, customer accounts, payment integrations, dashboards, customer portals and full web applications. Practeese, a practice-management platform with scheduling, automated reminders, intake forms and Stripe payments, is the clearest example of that. Start with what you need now and add to it when your business is ready.

I use modern development tools, including AI, to work more efficiently. It speeds up code, research, drafting and the repetitive parts of a build. But I personally handle the structure, design, development, testing and delivery. This is not a site generator spitting out a template; it is a custom build where the tooling lets me move faster than a traditional agency.

I am based in Potters Bar and work with businesses across Hertfordshire and North London, as well as remotely across the UK. If you are local I am happy to meet in person. If you are not, everything works perfectly well over email, phone and WhatsApp.

Ask me directly. There is no obligation attached and I would rather answer a question than have you guess. Even if you end up going elsewhere, you should at least know what you are buying.
